I’m Back! And Graduated. And Sad.

Sorry for the long…long, long absence. You see, I graduated on Saturday so I’ve spent every free moment of the past month with friends because we are all going our separate ways and I don’t know when I’ll see them again or how often I’ll see them, and I love them all dearly. *tear* And SO many of them are new friends and I’m not quite satisfied with the short semester I’ve spent with them. I might be depressed for a while about this whole situation. I’d like to just reverse time and relive the past semester (minus the schoolwork and classes part). Luckily, I still get to be a student for the next month because I have one more class I have to take to get my diploma, but unfortunately most of my friends won’t be there. SOOOOO SAD!!! Have I mentioned how sad I am? Very. Sad. *tear #2*

So here’s what I wore today. I’m on an olive kick. I’ve bought two pairs of olive pants recently and I bought a pair of olive toms today (as much as I hate that Toms have become trendy, I can’t resist their comfort and simplicity). I also really like this mint color paired with the olive. PLUS, bonus – I made my sister pose for pictures today too. That pink belt is hot…pink.

And then we saw some deer in the neighbor’s yard…

I think tomorrow I’ll do a post about my graduation. Remember that dress I posted about? Well, I gave in – I got it for $40 and considering it’s $140 original price tag, I’d say it was a pretty good deal!

Maggie the Technician

This outfit is from about a week ago when I was an extra in a movie. I was playing the part of a technician in something like a security room, so I had to wear a white button up shirt and neutral slacks. I didn’t have time to go home and change afterward before class, so I just accessorized. I threw on the cardigan and necklace, and wore fun shoes since they wouldn’t show in the scene. The shirt was borrowed from my housemate.

I’m starting to feel like a digital video and cinema student in addition to graphic design/web design. Apart from all  the script supervising I’ve been doing for a short action film, I’m helping out with a film festival and tonight we are having dinner with the director/cinematographer of a documentary that we are screening.

Flowers and Snow

It’s 12:34am, but I’m feeling inspired, so I’m fiiiiinally posting. Here are some pictures of my EASTER outfit! It was chilly, so I had to whip out the tights again.

Speaking of chilly, there was a 5 minute snow shower here today. Craziness! There was also ice on my windshield when I was driving back from a movie night at a friends house. SPRING? Where did you go? I’ve already packed away all of my sweaters and thermal underwear!

ALSO, while I was not being productive at 1:00am last night, I discovered this perfect, fabulous graduation outfit…purple and gold are my school colors. Too bad I’m not the type to spend that much on an occasion outfit. The yellow heels are tempting, though. And the dress is a good sale price (for Anthropologie).

Lights, Camera, Action!

Friends, film sets, fight choreography, script supervision, lights, cameras, action…my explanation for skipping and posting late ALL THE TIME lately.

By the way, if you didn’t read and respond to my previous post, please do. Pretty pretty please? I need suggestions and opinions!

Thoughts on blogging

Okay, so I’ve skipped about a week of blogging…sorry about that. I know last semester I stopped posting the whole last month of school, but I promise that won’t happen again. This semester isn’t quite as crazy as last, or at least not in the same way.

I just have a lot of non-class related stuff going on (in addition to a little bit of class stuff). I have several graphic design projects at work that I really should be working on,….woah there’s some wicked lightning outside (random side note)….I’m helping a friend with a short film, I’m trying to get together a portfolio and personal branding so I can actually get a design job after I graduate (as much as my friend and I would love to start our own graphic design business, it’s unlikely that will happen right away), I’ve been designing campaign materials for a film festival, bonding with friends before we all go our separate ways, aaand I think you get the point.

All this to say…I’m going to revert back to 5 days a week rather than six. I consistently have less views on the weekends anyway, so my weekend links post will just be on Friday instead of Saturday. Also, I’m seriously considering doing only 3 outfit posts a week, plus weekend links, plus something else – maybe shopping or style tips, DIYs, featured blogger, or something else. Any opinions, suggestions? If I start doing one other different kind of post, what would you like/what would be cool? I do want to stay in the realm of thrift/consignment/diy stuff…so no “great buys” or “wish list” type posts with links to clothes on retail sites or anything like that.

PLEASE offer suggestions or opinions on the above, even if you don’t normally comment :)

Now, finally, here’s my outfit:

Sunshiny Outfit

I went to a design conference today and had an amazing time. You can hear all about it tomorrow. I’m toooo tired now to go into it. I got up at 5 this morning, which is significantly earlier than usual. Here’s what I wore Tuesday. I usually don’t like yellow on me, but I don’t mind this at all!

Thunderstorms!

Today it stormed. I’ve never really thought about it, but it doesn’t really thunderstorm much here. Several people in one of my classes were talking about how in their several years here, they’ve only heard thunder once or twice. Oddly enough, today was “tornado preparedness day” at my university. They must have special-ordered that storm, haha. I really like storms, so I’m glad we had a nice somewhat lengthy, non-life-threateningly-violent one.

This is what I wore Sunday.

Warm Weather Struggles

My goodness it’s hot in this house (it’s pretty warm outside too)! I have yet to actually switch out the clothes in my closet for warm weather clothes. I sat in front of my closet for 15 minutes this morning trying to decide what to wear before I finally decided I should look in my box of summer clothes.

I think getting creative with my outfits is a little more challenging with warm weather because I just want to throw on a t-shirt and some shorts or my go-to tie-dye skirt. In winter, I have tights, scarves, hats, and layers. In summer, I want to dress minimally to stay cool. How do YOU get creative with a warmer weather wardrobe? Any tips?

Weekend Links!

via Pinterest (it was between that picture and this one today)

Happy “Lá Fhéile Pádraig!” Check out these fun links!

Llama font. Very practical, really.

Did you know clouds can be cute? Well, they can. Some of the other “we think things” videos are cool, too, if you have time. Namely, 35mm.

Marc Johns prints are fun. I wasted so much time looking through them. I like this one, this one, and this one reminds me of a certain someone who likes to mock me when I wear plaid.

Typographic chocolate. Too pretty to eat…but not really. I mean, it’s CHOCOLATE.

Finally, a new idea for what to do with all that polymer clay I bought at a yard sale.

March Anthropologie catalog. Be inspired. I’m in love with the umbrella shirt on page 25!

The color wheel game. Wanna waste some time?

And finally, the teaser for a short action film my friend is making. I’m the script supervisor. She bought me a clipboard…so official!

Oops.

Well, I missed posting on Friday by half an hour. Oops.

I’m excited to play around with this tee some more. When I was deciding what to wear, I realized how versatile it is with my particular wardrobe.
