The Movie Theater Effect

My dressing routine these days is kinda funky. I get up at 6am for class Monday through Thursday and put on the same thing – an old free t-shirt and some jeans that I don’t like that much. I go to my letterpress class where I handle toxic lead type, sticky ink, cleaning chemicals, crisco, and outdoor humidity. I go home around lunch time, shower and change into something nice, then sit on my bed and play Professor Layton for an hour before I start to doze off. And then run about doing various other things before going to bed way later than I should.

It’s reaaaaally hot in my room right now and my decaf coffee is watery.

I went to see Avengers for the second time today with some friends. I really shouldn’t spend money to go see movies because movie theaters act like a sedative on me. I inevitably fall asleep for some portion of whatever movie it is every time. I love the Avengers, but I’m still not quite sure what goes on in the middle of it because I’ve dozed off both times. ISSUES! I think I have to watch movies with the lights on. Or get enough sleep. Hmmm. OR it could be that movie theaters are so cold and coldness makes me sleepy (I think I’m backwards from most people in that aspect).

So now that I’ve blabbered away, here’s what I wore for part 2 of my day today. The shirt has braided detail around the neck, but I failed to take a picture. Oh well – next time.

99%

I’m going to be a bad blogger and admit it…I”m only 99% sure I’ve never posted this outfit. I have this “outfits” folder on my computer where I keep outfit pictures that I never posted for some reason or another (I don’t post if they are more than a couple weeks old). This is one of those. I checked my blog and didn’t see it, so I think I’m safe. I would have posted today’s outfit, but by time I remembered I needed to, I had already changed into cozy pjs. Oops :/ Those shoes on my feet? I adore them.

Versatile Shoes

Same shoes as the outfit I posted yesterday! So versatile! Once again, this outfit is from a few weeks ago. I admittedly haven’t been dressing very nicely to sit around in the house and do nothing this week. Life starts up again next week so I’ll get creative again. :)

FYI: I won’t be posting tomorrow because I’ll be on the road to visit a friend. It’s about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but the most I typically drive is 10 minutes to the grocery store once a week or 5 minutes to a friend’s house…so thoughts and prayers appreciated because this drive is really out of my comfort zone. Merging and 5 lane highways and 70mph roads and lotsa cars and big trucks – aahhh!

About Style…

Style begins with the people passing through one’s life, the harbingers we push against and the stylemakers we want to clone. Some are famous, some not. Style grows from admiration, from longing, from discrimination—and, yes, from love. It’s all the places you’ve been to and the people and the moments you’ve known: the parts you’ve adopted, to keep forever, and transformed. We wear our history in our hearts and on our backs.

Thank you, Sydney, for sharing this quote!

Put a Bird on It!

This is an outfit from weeks ago that I just never posted. I try to avoid owning too many screenprint tees, but I really like this one. Have I told you how much I love these shoes? I bought them thinking they’d match nothing, and they ended up matching a ton of my clothes. The only problem is that the soles are thin and made of cheap materials, so they are wearing through quickly.

Graduation Pictures!

So graduation. I have a B.A. in Media Arts and Design now. It rained during graduation, but since it was sunny at the time they had to decide whether to go with the rain locations or not, we still had our ceremony in the rain. I graduated within a college that contains quite a few schools, so I had to sit through English, Foreign Language, Anthropology, History, Communication, Political Science, Justice Studies, Religion, and Media Arts in Design, so I was thoroughly drenched by the end. It was still fun though, because I got to sit with some friends (they don’t go in alphabetical order – we just hand the announcer a name card as we go up and they read from that). The first several pictures here are from a few days before graduation (the sunny, dry pictures). The last 3 are from graduation day, so I’m quite wet. After graduation, I went to my friends’ grad party and played ninja and sat around and talked for a few hours. After that, I went to their house and just sleepily watched them play video games until about 11pm, cherishing the time with them. Sigh. I’m going to miss it.

As I mentioned yesterday, the dress is via Anthropologie (on sale for $40). The belt is from Target.

I’m Back! And Graduated. And Sad.

Sorry for the long…long, long absence. You see, I graduated on Saturday so I’ve spent every free moment of the past month with friends because we are all going our separate ways and I don’t know when I’ll see them again or how often I’ll see them, and I love them all dearly. *tear* And SO many of them are new friends and I’m not quite satisfied with the short semester I’ve spent with them. I might be depressed for a while about this whole situation. I’d like to just reverse time and relive the past semester (minus the schoolwork and classes part). Luckily, I still get to be a student for the next month because I have one more class I have to take to get my diploma, but unfortunately most of my friends won’t be there. SOOOOO SAD!!! Have I mentioned how sad I am? Very. Sad. *tear #2*

So here’s what I wore today. I’m on an olive kick. I’ve bought two pairs of olive pants recently and I bought a pair of olive toms today (as much as I hate that Toms have become trendy, I can’t resist their comfort and simplicity). I also really like this mint color paired with the olive. PLUS, bonus – I made my sister pose for pictures today too. That pink belt is hot…pink.

And then we saw some deer in the neighbor’s yard…

I think tomorrow I’ll do a post about my graduation. Remember that dress I posted about? Well, I gave in – I got it for $40 and considering it’s $140 original price tag, I’d say it was a pretty good deal!

Maggie the Technician

This outfit is from about a week ago when I was an extra in a movie. I was playing the part of a technician in something like a security room, so I had to wear a white button up shirt and neutral slacks. I didn’t have time to go home and change afterward before class, so I just accessorized. I threw on the cardigan and necklace, and wore fun shoes since they wouldn’t show in the scene. The shirt was borrowed from my housemate.

I’m starting to feel like a digital video and cinema student in addition to graphic design/web design. Apart from all  the script supervising I’ve been doing for a short action film, I’m helping out with a film festival and tonight we are having dinner with the director/cinematographer of a documentary that we are screening.

Flowers and Snow

It’s 12:34am, but I’m feeling inspired, so I’m fiiiiinally posting. Here are some pictures of my EASTER outfit! It was chilly, so I had to whip out the tights again.

Speaking of chilly, there was a 5 minute snow shower here today. Craziness! There was also ice on my windshield when I was driving back from a movie night at a friends house. SPRING? Where did you go? I’ve already packed away all of my sweaters and thermal underwear!

ALSO, while I was not being productive at 1:00am last night, I discovered this perfect, fabulous graduation outfit…purple and gold are my school colors. Too bad I’m not the type to spend that much on an occasion outfit. The yellow heels are tempting, though. And the dress is a good sale price (for Anthropologie).

Lights, Camera, Action!

Friends, film sets, fight choreography, script supervision, lights, cameras, action…my explanation for skipping and posting late ALL THE TIME lately.

By the way, if you didn’t read and respond to my previous post, please do. Pretty pretty please? I need suggestions and opinions!
